How to quickly insert symbols into documents

You can quickly insert frequently used symbols into most documents (spreadsheets, word docs, powerpoint etc) by holding down the left ‘alt’ key on your keyboard and typing the character code. For example, if you were to open a Word document, hold down ‘Alt’ and type 246 on your numberpad you will see a division symbol (÷) These symbols are also subject to the same formatting as regular text so you can change the colours and size of the symbols in the same way you would change text. Below are some symbol codes you may find useful;
